Fishy Photos and Steampunk Invites

Here at the NHM Special Events Dept. we are really looking forward to Dorian and Lynn’s wedding coming up in June. There are so many cool elements that I won’t spoil for you, you’ll just have to wait for the photos!

If you recall, these are the folks who used the Night at the Museum movie poster as inspiration for their save the dates which I posted previously. Since you couldn’t see their faces, I decided to post one of my favorite photos from their engagement session.

And another one of my favorites, although the faces are missing again:

Have these photos left you wanting more from these two? Well check out the steampunk invitations!

The engagement photos above plus a few more can be found at http://www.ourlaboroflove.com/showit/dorian_lynn_engagement/

The invitations were made by Royal Steamline: http://royalsteamline.com/ , who Dorian says were ”totally awesome throughout the entire process.”

Save the Date!

It looks like 2011 is shaping up to be jam-packed full of events here at the Natural History Museum! First, I’d like to share Dorian and Lynn’s Night at the Museum save the date cards:

And I encourage you to follow the adventures of Alix who will be getting married here in just a couple of weeks! Alix has a blog at http://cuteanddelicious.com/ and I swiped a couple of photos off of the post detailing how she and a few friends spent countless hours making 90 invitation booklets BY HAND! Alix, you are amazing!

Awesome Invites!

Check out the invitation and save the date cards from Kevin and Elizabeth’s 10-10-10 wedding at the George C. Page Museum at the La Brea Tar Pits! They were designed and created by the couple themselves.

The Invitation:

The Save the Date card:

For those of you that aren’t familiar with the Page museum, the save the date card is based on our wall of dire wolf skulls:

Save the Date!

We have another save the date card to share with everyone!

Alyssa and Josh will be getting married here in early July in what Josh describes on his blog as a “1960s-concert-in-the-park-meets-prehistoric-hipster-safari.”

As the happy couple are both designers, they decided to create this super-cool vintage postcard that they designed and printed on their own! Their inspiration for the cards came from vintage “gig posters”, handbills and boxing posters. I love that the silhouette on the card is taken from an actual photo of Alyssa and Josh!

Josh has the complete story and a photo slide show of the two of them designing and creating the cards on his blog: http://blog.threestepsahead.com/casestudies/josh-alyssa-wedding-save-the-date-postcard/
