And now for the invites…

Wow, Alyssa and Josh have seriously outdone themselves, folks! As impressed as we were at their save the date cards, their wedding invitations have completely blown us away!

Seriously, the design and attention to detail that these two have put into their invitations is nothing short of amazing! Following up with their band gig save the date cards, they have sent out their invitations as an album cover inspired by the ’50s and 60′s LPs. Their photo for the album/invite cover was taken by Josh, and he used a black sweatshirt as a backdrop and Alyssa was holding a blue LED nightlight from Ikea to get their desired effects.

Alyssa's Sketch

According to Josh’s blog, the inspiration for the RSVP cards came from an old Cleveland bus ticket that Alyssa found on eBay.

She sketched out her idea first and came up with a great card that fits perfectly with their theme.

The InspirationIn addition, Alyssa hand-lettered and cut stickers the say “I love the Future Korwins” based on an old Beatles button to throw in the invitations as an added bonus!

There is no way I can do all the details justice here. I highly recommend you take a look at the post on Josh’s blog at http://blog.threestepsahead.com/casestudies/josh-alyssas-album-cover-wedding-invitation/ . There is a photo slide show at the bottom where you can get an up close look at all the little details.

Save the Date!

We have another save the date card to share with everyone!

Alyssa and Josh will be getting married here in early July in what Josh describes on his blog as a “1960s-concert-in-the-park-meets-prehistoric-hipster-safari.”

As the happy couple are both designers, they decided to create this super-cool vintage postcard that they designed and printed on their own! Their inspiration for the cards came from vintage “gig posters”, handbills and boxing posters. I love that the silhouette on the card is taken from an actual photo of Alyssa and Josh!

Josh has the complete story and a photo slide show of the two of them designing and creating the cards on his blog: http://blog.threestepsahead.com/casestudies/josh-alyssa-wedding-save-the-date-postcard/

A day in the Life…

From time to time we get invitations to opening and events in the area to check out new event spaces. Generally these events have fun cocktails, delicious food and we get to meet and network with all kinds of people in the same line of work as us. This time we were invited to an event space showcase at Madame Tussaud’s Hollywood.

Madame Tussaud’s has room to hold events in both in their gallery of wax celebrities and on their glamorous starlit rooftop. We were treated to some really fun cocktails and delicious appetizers from Premiere Events, who also happen to do the food and beverage for our First Fridays events here at the Natural History Museum.

Guests were kept busy throughout the night. Aside from mingling on the rooftop, there were casino tables set up for folks to try their luck. Music played throughout the evening and Out of the Box events had developed a scavenger hunt specifically tailored to Madame Tussaud’s Hollywood.

Melissa and her date "Justin Timberlake"

Courtney being pursued by "Quentin Tarantino"

The top floor of the wax museum stayed open and we got to take a look at the wax likenesses of celebs such as Will Smith, George Clooney, Beyoncé, Jennifer Aniston and Zac Efron. I will admit we got a bit silly with the camera…

A particularly fun part of the evening was getting to watch all the excitement at Grauman’s Chinese Theater, located right next to Madame Tussaud’s. Hollywood Boulevard was shut down for the red carpet premiere of the new A-Team movie. From the rooftop we had a great view and watched the non-wax celebrities arrive decked out in their finest!

A huge thank you to Madame Tussaud’s for hosting this wonderful evening. And thank you to all of the vendors who helped make sure everyone was fed and entertained throughout the evening:
